How Eas Tag Works
Aug 17, 2018

Electronic Article Surveillance (EAS) is a technological method for preventing shoplifting in retail stores, libraries, and other businesses where merchandise is on display.  EAs Tags are fixed to merchandises and are removed or deactivated by personnel when the merchandise is properly bought or checked out.  At building exits, detection systems are installed that will sound an alarm or alert the staff when an active tag or label that has not been removed or deactivated passes through the exit. Eas security tags can be equipped with a built-in alarm which sounds when the tag detects tampering or unauthorized removal from the store. The tag not only triggers the store's electronic article surveillance system, but also sounds an alarm attached to the merchandise. The local alarm continues to sound for several minutes after leaving the store, attracting attention to the shopper carrying the merchandise.
